Forget PVA, we've never used it & not known a tray fail or become unstuck. As for the weight, lay a good bed onto the ply 10-15mm thick, get a pal to help you lift it & plonk it onto the cement bed. Level it, that's very important!

WebJun 14, 2024 · If you think about it, a good installation with a bead of silicone on the edges of the tray against the wall, plus tiles, finishing silicone or trim, makes the chipboard quite unlikely to get wet, unless something goes wrong. In that case plywood will only last longer, but eventually will give in. You would not have to chisel out 3/4 to gain as much as you need.
