The dam offers some great activities including canoeing, fishing, rock-climbing and game drives to mention a few. It is approx. 30min from Durban so you could do a day trip or stay overnight and bring your tent along! Shongweni in KwaZulu-Natal is an absolute gem of a nature reserve and, being located just over half an hour away from Durban’s urban edge, an ideal weekend adventure getaway. At 1700 hectares, it is the largest piece of unspoilt natural bush in the Durban area.
